The installation of a custom ROM represents one of the key steps in the Android modding, a choice made by users in order to be able to experiment with new solutions with respect to the firmware stock of the device used, especially if you do not have a Nexus, but above all a process of personalization in search of the one most suited to your style and use.
Although the panorama is full of solutions, more or less variable and complete in the functional and aesthetic context, being able to decide which elements to customize and how to do it starting from a base that has always been adequate, the objective of the community of modding. The result of this premise was finally achieved thanks to Xposed Framework and in particular the form GravityBox, a tool that summarizes many unified modules for a single solution.
Requirements for installing GravityBox
TheXposed module in question a must-have for all those who want to personalize their device, offering a rich set of options and features that astound for the simple management integration. Despite the complex architecture, the installation requirements are minimal:
- Enabling theroot rightson the device
- Installation of Xposed Framework
- Firmware based on Android Jelly Bean or Kitkat
The use of GravityBox opens the doors to a wide range of changes that range from the status bar, with colors and icons or quick settings, passing through the management of the software keys, of which you can modify the functions where present or introduce them on devices without them, up to the customization of the lockscreen, the enabling of pie control and many other functions.
Installation of GravityBox
The installation of thisXposed modulefollows the MOD procedure, whose insertion on the device is as simple as installing a common application, in this to take into account some warnings.
GravityBox available with the file ".apk”Developed in two versions compatible with firmware developed on Android Jelly Bean release or on the most recent Android KitKat, so pay attention to what to install to avoid unpleasant bugs or system freezes. Once the specific file has been downloaded, enabled use ofapplications with unknown originsand through a file manager install the MOD:
Once the module is installed, before moving on to customizing your custom ROM, remember to activate it either via the notification with switch integrated in the notifications panel that through the section “Forms"Of Xposed, where you will have to put the check on the item"GravityBox”Then restarting manually.
Setting up the GravityBox
In your app drawer you should view, confirming the successful and correct installation, an app of the same name from whose interface you will have access to the vast panorama of options that GravityBox will allow you to take advantage of.
One of the primary advantages of this particular and singular module concerns the implementation in a single MOD of multiple functions currently available individually via many different modules, thus being able to manage everything without risks of incompatibility and from a single screen.
We have tested the compatible version for KitKat, which offers a few more functions than the analogous one for Jelly Bean, and the possibilities and combinations of customizations are truly manifold. A point to underline concerns the best use of the module through custom ROMs that do not have heavy customizations, or i firmware stock with root permissions, since often some functions may not be fully usable if already present in the interface you use.
Compatibility and any problems
If, in particularly complex cases, you should come across a malfunction capable of causing the device tobootloop, as mentioned among the fundamental requirements for using the tool, you can turn to custom recovery to disable the contrast elements thanks to the presence of a ".zip" file fromflash, calledXposed-disabler-Recovery,released automatically during the installation of the Xposed Installer.
