Update the AirPods & AirPods Pro firmware

In these hours, Apple has released a firmware update for the second generation AirPods and for AirPods Pro. Here's how to proceed with the update.

On Amazon, AirPods are in super discount offer. It starts from 139, shipments included, for the second generation with standard case. And just 169 for the one with the wireless case.

The software version of AirPods 2, therefore, passes from the previous 2A364 to the current 2D15. Here is how you update.

The procedure completely automatic and wireless: all that the user is asked to insert AirPods into the charging case and to put the case in charging. To force the update process, however, you can delete the pairing with iPhone (in Bluetooth Settings) and finally perform the pairing again.

To check the firmware version installed, do so:

  • Make sure you've connected AirPods to the iPhone
  • Open the Settings app
  • touch General
  • touch Information
  • touch AirPods
  • Look at the item "Firmware version"
