Among the economic audio interfaces presented at the NAMM 2020 edition of the National Association of Music Merchants music fair, the Presonus solution, called ioStation 24c, stands out for its functionality.
This device offers two functions in one: on one side a 24bit / 192khz two channel card, on the other also a MIDI DAW controller. Together among the most compact solutions currently in existence and equipped with USB-C port with footswitch for hands-free start and stop. But let's go in order.
As for the audio part, there are two XLR microphone inputs, 1/4 ″ jack with XMAX preamplifier in class A at 192 kHz 24 bit, two balanced outputs on 1/4 ″ jack and a headphone output with knob for independent volume control and with a low latency direct input monitoring system. The DAW controller, on the other hand, is the best known Faderport which works both via the MCU protocol for Apple Logic and Cubase, and the HUI protocol for Pro Tools.
The upper panel contains all the controls to manage the input and output levels, with a transport section of the selected track. On the left side, the level of the selected master track is controlled by means of a motorized fader with a touch sensitive system.
Presonus ioStation 24c compatible with macOS 10.11, Windows 7 x64 and later versions of both operating systems. As we said the strength the price: it costs $ 300 and in the price included the Studio One Artist software and the Studio Magic Plug-in suite which includes over 6 GB of loops and samples.
