iPad: 3G model sold out in the USA one week after its international launch – Macitynet.it
Cupertino may not be able to build iPad in sufficient quantities to respond to the high market demand. Even if this means that the Apple tablet is enjoying success that goes beyond Apple's forecasts, the inability to satisfy all requests and all markets risks causing economic damage for Apple and its shareholders. The alarm launched by Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray who with his team has verified the availability of the tablet at 50 Apple Stores in the United States. The picture that emerges is rather worrying: iPad in the 3G version sold out in all the stores consulted by Piper Jaffray, while 74% of the stores were completely devoid of any iPad model.
The situation appears even more serious if we keep in mind that the almost absolute scarcity of iPad detected by Munster in the USA just one week after the international launch of iPad. The analyst admits that his previous estimate of 1.3 million pieces sold by the end of June is now much lower than the real: Apple announced that it had sold 1 million iPad three weeks ago. Finally Munster believes that in the current situation Apple will be able to supply a sufficient quantity of iPad to satisfy the market only in late summer.
