Waiting for Apple to officially announce the list of drivers included in Mac OS X 10.2, several leading scanner companies say that they will not be ready to support the new OS immediately.
For example, HP lists the Mac OS compatible scanner models.
HP Scanjet 4400, 5300, 5400 and 6300 (work with Mac OS 8.6 and later), HP Scanjet 3570, 4500, 5300, 5500 and 7400 (apart from the last one that works with Mac OS 8.6 and later, the others work with Mac OS 9.1 and later).
No compatibility with Mac OS Classic for all models, while only the HP Scanjet 3570, 4500, 5500 and 7400 are given for operation already with Mac OS X 10.1, for the HP Scanjet 4400, 5300, 5400 and 6300 models it will not be possible download the drivers for Mac OS X until the end of autumn (extending the previous terms set by HP for the summer).
Also late Microtek, the drivers for ScanMaker 9800XL, ArtixScan 1100, 2500f, 4000t, 4000tf and 4500t are in beta version, those for ScanMaker 3800, 4800, 4900, 5600 and 8700 are in alpha version and for September / October drivers are scheduled for ArtixScan 2020, 2500, ScanMaker 4700, 5700, 6700 and X12USL.
Compatibility in Mac OS X Classic currently ensured via ScanWizard for: ScanMaker 3600, 3700, 3750i, 3800, 3800 + LightLid 35, 4600, 4600 + Digital Camera, 4700, 4800, 5600, 5600 + MP3 CD Player, 5700, 8700, 8700 Pro Design, X12USL and X12USL Office Edition; the ScanMaker 8700 and 8700 Pro Design also work with ScanWizard Pro.
