How to have Android L on Nexus 4 thanks to a porting …

As you well know, the first beta versions of the new Android L operating system have not been released for all Nexus series devices, but mainly for the latest generation ones, but thanks to the usual XDA community there is a porting of this new operating system that can also be installed on the oldest Nexus 4. Today we will go to see the download files and the installation guide.

What we are going to see today is a first version of porting, still not very stable, but the community is working hard to introduce new updates that will allow you to have a version of Android L much more stable even on Nexus 4. Many features such as bluetooth, network signal and Play Store do not work properly, but for those who want to have a first impression of Android L on their Nexus 4 here is the installation guide.

  • make a full backup of your device before starting operations,
  • install a custom recovery (preferably TWRP),
  • download one of the following ROM installation file and copy it to the internal memory of the device: update 18, update 19, update 20, update 21
  • restart the phone in recovery mode
  • perform wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache, wipe cache partitions
  • choose the installation of a ZIP file and select the one you just downloaded
  • after completing the procedure, restart the device

Pay attention that the final reboot of the device is a procedure that could involve a really long time, even 10-15 minutes, so be patient and wait for everything to be completed. We reiterate once again that this is an unstable first version of Android L on Nexus 4, then proceed with this guide at your own risk.
