comScore today published a research focused on the market share of mobile phones in the United States, analyzing in particular the spread of OS and the dominant brands during the quarter from February to May 2010. Interesting data emerges.

Speaking of manufacturers, the US market was dominated by Samsung, LG and Motorola, which occupy the first three places spaced by a few percentage points. Follow RIM and Nokia respectively in fourth and fifth place. Apple is not among the top 5. Note that both Samsung and Motorola and LG support Google's Android platform.

Turning to the operating systems available only on smartphones, the ranking changes. In the head there is firmly RIM; Apple and Microsoft follow. Google ranks fourth in the only OS that grows in the quarter (by 4 percentage points), taking it very close to Microsoft, which will probably be overcome soon. Fifth position for Palm.

Although Android is the only platform to have recorded growth, it should be pointed out that the new iPhonesi was made available only in June 2010, the month excluded from the research and in which a new rise of Apple can probably be observed.
