A Nissan 350Z and three iPhones. Here is what the first fully unlocked iPhone brought to young Gorge Hotz.

Hotz, who became famous as 'the guy with the welder', had managed to make his iPhone independent of the AT&T network by means of a simple system of jumpers conveniently placed with tin. His work, done in his spare time and a few days before going to university, had been put up for sale on eBay. Within a few days, the auction was stormed by fake bidders who raised the offer to $ 99 million. At that point, the young Hotz has nothing left but to pick up the phone and go to a sort of 'private negotiation'.

Terry Daidone, founder of CErticell, a company that deals with accessories for cellular telephony, was the winner. In exchange for the telephone, Daidone gave the young Hotz the http://www.nissan.it/home/vehicles/passenger/Z33/index.html?ln=/it_IT, a car that costs around 40,000 euros in Europe, and three 8 GB iPhones. Hotz, who took 500 hours to understand how to unlock the phone, will keep the car, while the phones will go to friends who have given him a hand to find out how to unlock the iPhone; no one went very bad since Hotz, before taking up the soldering iron, thought he would introduce himself to university with a dated Mitsubishi 300GT, while his friends earned a decidedly coveted prize.
